Our Norfolk camp is a one-of-a-kind training venue. Situated in Kings Lynn at the heart of Norfolk, athletes are able to enjoy the fantastic cycling and running routes in the area, and the open water lakes are both stunning and quiet. Find yourself riding intervals around the fens, running along the River Great Ouse or doing repeats around the old Royal Station; our Norfolk camp balances hard work in a region fit for royalty.

With all the hard work, the set-up at the B&B allows us to relax informally over meals and creates a positive and encouraging environment where you can share stories from the day’s training or exchange race goals and ambitions. This camp is a very inclusive experience which has encouraged athletes to really grown and develop in only a few days.

  • General Overview

This training camp takes place just before the race season and can be used as a race sharpening training camp. The training at this time of year is all about fine-tuning your efforts and dialling in the final bit of fitness before the summer racing. This camp is all about doing the hard work with like-minded individuals who will squeeze a little more out of you!

We make use of the beautiful fens for our sessions on the bike and the run, with the famous 1km run repeats to look forward to and the 5-minute max efforts on the bike! This camp is appropriate for all standards, but participants must come with both a sense of humour and a willingness to work hard!

    Suggested ability level

The sessions themselves are designed so that any ability can train alongside the others, with key sessions focussing on threshold tolerance and fatigue resistance. This means you won’t slow the group down, as everyone will be doing their own work.

    Swim

There is access to both open water and the swimming pool (providing lane availability over the bank holiday). Sessions include:

    – Descending 400m

    – Endurance long repeats

    – Sprint work

    – Openwater skills enhancement

    Bike

The fens offer excellent cycling. Generally, the terrain is flat or rolling hills with a good road surface. Some of the sessions include:

    – Long Threshold repeats focussing on race position and speed

    – Longer (80-100km) recovery ride

    – Max 5-minute VO2max interval loops to fatigue

    Run

Running is generally on pavements and good surfaces, with some trail running too. Sessions include:

    – Steady long run (out and back negative split)

    – The famous 1km repeat brick

    – Easy brick focus on form

    S&C

There is also access to an onsite gym, though sessions do not use this.

  • The training schedule written below is subject to change and is meant to be representative of the style of training scheduled to help your planning. If you want any further information, drop us a line closer to the start date as we will have a better idea of any tweaks or changes due to facility closures or weather.

    Thursday

Arrive in the afternoon, easy familiarisation spin

    Friday

Swim in the morning followed by a big brick session: Threshold intervals on the bike and 1km run repeats along the river.

    Saturday

Easy, but long recovery ride. Easy negatively split paced run.

    Sunday

Morning swim. Bike: 5 minute max intervals

    Departure.

  • The expected weather for British Summertime is always questionable. We recommend that you make sure you pack for all eventualities and check the weather before you leave.

Both the BBC and Dark Sky are good resources.

  • Bikes available

We do have limited access to local bike shops for bike hire, but we would recommend you bring your own bike.

    Accessories

If hiring a bike, we suggest you bring your helmet and pedals with you. Depending on your saddle type, it may be worth bringing your own saddle too.

  • This is a full board training camp and so meal costs are included.

You will need some money for cafe stops when out and about and if you wanted to purchase any snacks.

Awesome weekend of training with Tri Training Harder and Fairlight Lodge. The sessions were challenging, but with a good variety to suit us all, and allow us to train together even with different speeds in the group. The accommodation and food were brilliant - Jude and Karl did a great job of looking after us and knowing what hungry triathletes need to get the best out of the sessions. Great fun training with other people - a really enjoyable weekend :-)

Coaching was delivered in such an encouraging way. The structure of sessions was really well considered (assessments of pace and style to start) and tailored to the individual
— Andy P
It was the first ever triathlon training camp that I attended and I am impressed. As a beginner I had many questions and each question was answered patiently by the coaches.
— Christian D
A brilliant training camp and would absolutely recommend this to any triathlete. Fantastic coaching tailored to all abilities, feedback, accommodation and food. The experience was hugely positive and confidence boosting. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this training camp and know I will be back. Thank you to TTH, the coaches and my fellow athletes for an unforgettable week.
