Situated in the hotel for the IRONMAN Portugal event, our training weekend is on the bustling holiday destination of Cascais. With the hills of Sintra reaching up behind and the Atlantic coastline stretching out in front of you, the training will be focussed around familiarisation for the IRONMAN event with our professional local coaches on hand to guide you around and give you top tips for the course. This is an endurance athletes playground with the beautiful coastal roads and ocean to train in, a weekend will seem too short!

  • General Overview

This camp can be an ideal weekend break, or it can be used as a race recce for IRONMAN Portugal. We are fortunate that we have two of our professional coaches living in Cascais, and both are more than happy to arrange course familiarisation and coaching.

    Suggested Ability Level

This camp is open to all abilities. Due to the low numbers, it is almost 1-2-1 coaching.

    – Open water skills sessions

    – Endurance work

    – Technical assistance

    Bike

Cycling around the hills of Sintra and the coast of Cascais is stunning. We are able to offer:

    – Course recce

    – Endurance guided rides

    Run

Running around Cascais is a fine balance between the beautiful backdrop of the mountains, the fresh ocean coastline or the charming town of Cascais. Sessions include

    – IRONMAN Course familiarisation

    – Running intervals

    – Brick sessions

    S&C

There is a gym in the hotel, though we don’t use it for this training camp.

  • The training schedule written below is subject to change and is meant to be representative of the style of training scheduled to help your planning. If you want any further information, drop us a line closer to the start date as we will have a better idea of any tweaks or changes due to facility closures or weather.

There is no set schedule yet for this camp.

  • The expected weather for Cascais is usually fine. We recommend that you make sure you pack for all eventualities and check the weather before you leave as it is coastal, so the Atlantic conditions can impact the weather on land.

Both the BBC and Dark Sky are good resources.

  • Bikes available

We do have access to local bike rentals for bike hire for both carbon and aluminium road bikes. See the booking forms for more information.

    Accessories

If hiring a bike, we suggest you bring your helmet and pedals with you. Depending on your saddle type, it may be worth bringing your own saddle too.

  • This is a breakfast only training camp and so meal costs are not included. You can upgrade to a half board option.

You will need some money for cafe stops when out and about and if you wanted to purchase any snacks. You will also need to provide your other meals.
